How to import shipment to Sez In India

Import process for SEZ (Special Economic Zone) and Non SEZ is almost same but export is different. Few documentation is increased here depend upon the product. We trying to show proper process in this article for India.

First Understand What is SEZ (SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE)

In short SEZ special economic zone is a place develop by Indian government to extend Import/Export or international trading in India. Here registered companies gets tax exemptions or 100% duty exempt in Import. For the details about SEZ process click on the this link

Note : SEZ special economic have own custom office. Like international Custom office in India. 

IMPORT PROCESS IN SEZ 

There is simple step by step import process for SEZ-

1 -  Let's take a example a manufacturer from SEZ in India, they have a shoes manufacturer plant in Ahmadabad Special economic Zone and his named is Sharma Shoes Industries.

2 - Sharma company want to import few raw materials from Russian Country, For example assume there is a big industry of raw material who's name is Mathely industries.

Do you know India government established the SEZs units in India to increase international transaction special in case of exports.

3 - Sharma have import license (IEC CODE) from government so he is able to import the shipment by himself if he don't have IEC code then he have to hire one third party importer who should be registered in SEZ area. Lot of manufacturer don't want involve himself in import process because there lot of paper works and time taking, so they avoid this and their main focused to production.

4 - So Sharma approach to Mathely Industries through mail or websites or any other references. And send them their requirement of raw material and requested with Manthely provide your quotation or provide your offer as per our requirement.

5 - Manthely will share their offer with price, lead time, shipment terms, payment terms, HSN code etc. Shipment terms is internationally categorized which is called INCO TERMS, for example we suppose here Ex-works INCO TERMS, for more details INCO TERMS click on this link

Do you know What is HSN code, "This is a unique code used internationally to define the parts category. By this you can get to know how much duty will impose on that products."

6 - If Sharma not agreed with price or any terms he will try to negotiation if deal done then Sharma raise their PO purchase order to Mathely. You should try to negotiate with buyer to get better offer or try to offer from different manufacturers.

7 - Then Manthely will share his PI (Proforma Invoice) to Sharma. This step depend on the payment terms we supposed to here advance payment. In Proforma invoice should be mentioned HSN Code, parts prices, bank details and payment terms, delivery terms, Lead time.

8 - Sharma will release the advance payment against PI throw online and share the swift details to Manthely. In this process Sharma is Importer and Manthely is Exporter.

Do you know Swift details means payment receipt by bank for payment reference, This is used for international transactions only.

9 - Manthely check the payment received or not. Once payment received Manthely will share his order confirmation, means your order is processed and shipment will be ready till specific date this date also called lead time. This lead time will be final ETD (Estimated time to Dispatch) for the shipment.

10 - Once Shipment will be ready to dispatch, Mathely will send the notification to Sharma that your shipment is ready to dispatch kindly arrange the pickup. We are taking example of Ex-works delivery terms so buyer will arrange the pickup and imports processing. Sharma will share the packaging list, box dimension and invoices.

11 - Now Sharma contact with the any freight Forwarder or Courier company to arrange this pickup and share the details to Freight forwarder arrange the pickup on the behalf of Sharma. Freight forwarder will give complete charges to Sharma for this shipment.

Do you know if any seller import the shipment for any buyer they don't want to share the manufacturer invoice to buyer so seller will share own invoice to the Freight forwarder and they will swipe the invoices. So buyer only get that invoice not the manufacturer invoices.

12- On the same time Sharma will share the freight forwarder details to Manthely and tell he is my forwarder kindly handover my shipment to them. Mostly there is account code of Freight forwarder that is identify the customer. 

13 - Manthely will handover the shipment to freight forwarder and share the tracking details to Sharma. From here Manthely works completed.

14 - Now freight forwarder will arrange the export process documentation in Russia and dispatch the shipment to Ahmadabad airport. Once shipment reached in India, Freight forwarder will informed to Sharma and share the required docs. From here Freight forwarder work is completed.

15 - Now Sharma will hire or Contact a CHA (custom house agent) and share that necessary documents with him. 

16 - Custom house agent will complete clearance process on the behalf of Sharma or importer. Once shipment get custom cleared CHA will dispatch the shipment to Ahmadabad SEZ from the Airport.

17 - Once shipment reached in SEZ, then documents will be verify on SEZ gate by government authorized custom officers and Sharma industries responsible person have to be there but its not must. Once docs verified then shipment handover to Sharma industries to manufacturers process by CHA.

Do you know CHA is verified by the India government they have to get licence from respective government to play role as CHA.
